Julia Sweeney: Older & Wider - Live Taping
From Julia Sweeney:
We are shooting a comedy special of my show, Julia Sweeney: Older & Wider, at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox in Spokane on April 2 & 3 at 7:30 p.m. I had a great time in Spokane in September 2018 doing the show, and wanted to come back home to the beautiful Fox Theater to film it!
My show is observational humor and strewn with funny stories from my life. I’m older and yes, a wee bit wider, but I think you’ll laugh and have a good time. Filming the show means that we may have a few stops and starts as the show progresses. It also means that there will be people with cameras visible in the audience. It could mean that your face may appear in the special. But, all in all, the filming won’t be a huge inconvenience. We expect that the 75-minute show will take less than two hours to shoot. It's a special thing to be in the audience. You get to see how the sausage is made!
I can't wait to see you in Spokane in April!
Julia Sweeney's Bio
Julia Sweeney is an actress/comedienne and writer from Spokane, WA. She is most well-known for having been a cast member of Saturday Night Live (SNL) in the early 90s where she popularized her most famous character, Pat. After she left SNL, she created several comedic biographical one-person shows.
The first one, God Said Ha!, chronicled her brother's cancer diagnosis as well as her own. That show played on Broadway in 1996, and the film of the stage show was produced by Quentin Tarantino. The comedy album of that show was nominated for a Grammy.
Her next show was entitled Letting Go of God, and that chronicled her journey from Catholic enthusiast to non-believer. That show was filmed and played on Showtime. Her show, In the Family Way, followed her journey to adopt a child as a single woman.
Her current one-person show is Julia Sweeney: Older & Wider, which has had successful runs in Chicago and Los Angeles and played in New York City. She is filming the comedy special of this show at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox in Spokane on April 2 and 3, 2020.
Julia has appeared in many television shows and films, and is currently on three TV series: Shrill on Hulu (where she plays Aidy Bryant's mother), Work in Progress on Showtime (where she is an executive producer and plays a version of herself), and American Gods on Starz. Julia is currently in Toronto shooting American Gods. Her character will be featured throughout American God’s third season, and will debut in the fall of 2020.
